About a month ago, mom was taking me for a walk around the lake and we saw two HUGE turtles. One was just off the path and one was on the sidewalk heading toward the street. Mom took pictures of the biggest turtle that was on the side of the path. That one I found. I smelled something and went sniffing in the plants on the side of the path, and suddently this HUGE dinosaure like head poked out of the leaves! Mom jumped and pulled me back. It was a HUGE snapping turtle, it was bigger than a dinner plate!
Today mom and I were walking around the lake and I caught a scent and followed it to some tall grass near the edge of the lake. I sniffed out another turtle! This one was much smaller and not a snapping turtle. He didn't seem to be afraid of me, but mom wouldn't let me get too close. Dad said it was not a snapping turtle. There was some moss like stuff on his shell.
Of course, I had to take a closer look.
"Hello? What's your name?"
Mom said I have a knack for sniffing out Turtles, and called me The Turtle Whisperer.
oooh, that looks tasty. Let me know when you've perfected the oyster cracker whisperer.

We don't get too many turtles here in Melbourne. Of course, that might have something to do with the fact I am not allowed outside the backyard! If I was a turtle I wouldn't come in our backyard, in case I ran into poo-face Salvador.
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July, I'm having an extra nap in honour of the occasion.

Good job, Indy!
ReplyDeleteBe careful so one of those snappers doesn't bite your nose and refuse to let go!
I think Zimmie must be the bunny whisperer, because Oswald comes running to him when he sees him now. So do all the neighborhood cats. Isn't that weird?

Ammy
Turtles are so neat! I think you really ARE the turtle whiperer...especially since you find one on each walk!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
We hope you had a HAPPY 4th!
Oh lovely find!
ReplyDeleteOne day HuMom looked out the window to find me running around our yard with an enormous helmet in my mouth. Problem is, we don't own a helmut! I carefully placed the helmut in a big hole I dug, flat side up. When HuMom came outside to investigate, she told me it wasn't a helmut but a TURTLE! The turtle made funny noises too. So HuMom picked him up and he went to live in a Sibe-free zone in our neighbors yard. HuMom says this particular turtle is "protected".
But wow...a snapping turtle for you? Don't think HuMOm would have picked that one up.
That's so khool!! You should have invited him back to your house.

Woh you'll make a cool Turtle Whisperer

You are totally awesome, Indy! Could you come over and help me find some turtles here? It's not that far of a walk from Maryland to Illinois...
ReplyDeleteWoo,

ReplyDeleteDesert Pups here just saying woof and trying to make new pals. We're a pack of four pups over at Life Inside The Fence. Our Mom has two desert tortoises in the back yard but she won't let us play with them. Don't know why, all we want to do is chew on them a bit.

I heard they're great in soup. Does your mom have a crock pot?

Very cool. Indy, you could have your own show on that discovery channel.
