Here is a picture of what Kaiyuh the Alaskan Malamute did to her humans' garage door when she decided she wanted to get out of the garage and explore yesterday. (I don't know why, since the garage is nice and cool, but hey, Huskies are smarter than Malamutes!)
And here is sweet Kaiyuh. Look at that face, how could you be mad at her???
So if you think you want a Northern Breed dog, talk to some rescues and some people who have Northern Breed dogs, and make sure!
Way to go Kaiyuh! I can see the home improvement already.
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, I think there need to be more public service announcements like this. People need to be aware of what they are signing up for, and that includes the negative aspects. Unfortunately, too often, decisions made with the heart don't last long, and our feline and canine brothers and sisters suffer the consequences of a change of heart.

ReplyDeleteYou are so right! My humans took Meeko on an adoption this morning. It was between Meeko and a very sweet female purebred Husky named Branwen. The guy's house was very neat...in fact it was spotless. My mom said when she walked in the first thing she though was "Oh...that looks like a new hardwood floor..."
The guy was a little afraid of Meeko, so he was considering Branwen. So Branwen went inside and they took her into the basement to play. I think the fact that it's summer and she was blowing her coat and was shedding all over the perfect clean carpet was a shock to him. He said he would take some time to think about it. But it's good that he is seeing the reality first, the cons as well as the pros, and is not rushing into a decision.
