Public Service Annoucement: Folliculitis

So my mom did some research online about infected hair follicles, which is called folliculitis. There are several different types of folliculitis, you can read about them here. The information on this site is written about folliculitis in humans, but this applies to all other mammals as well.
Here is the type of folliculitis that I had:
Boils and carbuncles - these occur when hair follicles become deeply infected with staph bacteria. A boil usually appears suddenly as a painful pink or red bump about 1/2 inch in diameter. The surrounding skin also may be red and swollen. Within 24 hours, the bump fills with pus. It grows larger and more painful for five to seven days, sometimes reaching golf ball size before it develops a yellow-white tip that finally ruptures and drains. Boils generally clear completely in about two weeks. Small boils usually heal without scarring, but a large boil may leave a scar. A carbuncle is a cluster of boils that often occurs on the back of the neck, shoulders or thighs, especially in older men. Carbuncles cause a deeper and more severe infection than does a single boil. As a result, they develop and heal more slowly and are likely to leave scars.
Thank goodness my mom took me to the vet as often as I needed to go so that my bump never got as big as a golf ball! I also had two smaller bumps, one on the top of the toe and another on the back of the toe. That explains why it took so long for my foot to start getting better.
I thought it was a good idea to share this important health information. This has been a public service announcement.

  8. Glad you are feeling better. I also wanted to thank you for recommending Evanger's 100% Buffalo & Rabbit. Usually I don't like mushy food, but these are great! I also like the Chicken and the Duck and the Beef! Tiki also likes to nibble on it. She can do whatever she wants around my food bowl, but sometimes if that Riley gets too close to my foods I have to growl at him a little. I let them both use my water bowl whenever they want, but usually I make Riley wait until I am done with my foods before he can have a taste. I have elevated bowls, so it's kinda funny to watch my kitties perched on the sides.
