Back to School!

I get to go to school today! And I'm still eating wonderful raw chicken! My #2 actually got a little too firm last night, so mom gave me an egg after dinner, she said that should help.

For anyone who is interested in learning more about raw feeding for dogs or cats, this site, The Myths About Raw Feeding is the best my mom has found. The research is very well done and clearly documented, and the author has a degree in Zoology and Biology and worked for 4 years in the Clinical Sciences Department of the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Another great site is Raw Meaty Bones, which is based on the book of the same title by British veterinarian Tom Lonsdale. Mom just got it yesterday and she can't wait to read it!

I get to go to school today, woohoo! I can't wait, I can't wait! AND I got to have a meaty section of raw chicken ribs for breakfast - could this day GET any better?

  1. Actually I am not on the BARF diet (some call that the Bones and Raw Food diet, others call it the Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet). I am on the Raw Meaty Bones diet. Based on what she's read, mom believes that canines can get the necessary vitamins and nutrients they need from a balanced (different types of meats, raw eggs in the shell) diet of raw meaty bones. Mom has read several things that indicate that wolves and wild canines will spill they stomach contents of their herbivore prey rather than eat it, and that wild dogs and wolves resort to eating grains only in times when meat is scarce and they need to survive. So mom does not plan to give me any grains especially since I have trouble digesting them. Many dogs can digest them, but grains are not the optimal food for dogs.
