Think Good Thoughts for My Buddy Maxx!

My mom talked to Maxx's mom last night, and she found out that at his check up recently, Maxx tested positive for Lyme Disease. The vet said it was a very strong positive. Thank goodness Maxx hasn't shown any symptoms yet and he is starting treatment. The vet sent his bloodwork out for further testing. Everybody please say prayers and send Maxx good thoughts. He's young and healthy and is starting treatment before any symptoms started, so there is a good chance he'll be fine.

Lyme Disease is scary though. About a year and a half ago I showed a faint positive for Lyme Disease. My mom did a lot of reading about it, and decided to have another titer test done to see if the virus was active and if it had done any damage. Thank goodness it was not active and it had not done any damage, so the vet said to watch me carefully, and if I ever showed any symptoms to bring me in immediately. I haven't shown any syptoms so far, so that's good news!

My mom says the best thing to do is to be very vigilant with flea and tick repellant and check your dog carefully after walking.

Good Luck Maxx!

  4. Hang in there Maxx. My sidekick got that and was at the hospital for a long time and everything. I hope he gets all the right antibiotics that go into the cells to get that bug. It can hide out in the cells so make sure they get all of it, don't do too short a course of antibiotics (and make sure they chose the right one!)

Poor Maxx! Good find though, especially if he's not showing any symptoms.

We have tick checks around here.. the kids pretty much expect them these day!
