Roadtrip With Meeko

Yesterday was a lot of fun. First we went to Best Friends to get Meeko. Then we ran around outside for a little bit. Then we got in the car. My silly mom and dad were going to put me and Meeko in the back seat together, but then they realized there really wasn't enough room. So mom drove and I sat in the front with her, and dad sat in the back with Meeko. It took about an hour and a half to get there, it was a long car ride! Toward the end I got impatient and started talking. Meeko actually talked like a Husky a little bit! When I talked he went "Wooo! Woooo!". Mom and dad thought it was soooooo great. What's the big deal? I do it all the time.

We got to the Hartford County Humane Society in Fallston. The weather stayed nice and it didn't rain. This shelter recently took in 69 dogs and four cats which were seized by Hartford County Animal Control from an animal hoarder. We saw some of those dogs yesterday at the event. One Sheltie was almost completely bald, his hair had just fallen out. Another small golden dog that looked like a Cocker Spaniel mix was very thin and frightened. We also saw a handsome, fawn and white male Pit Bull who was very thin and afraid of everyone. His foster mom had brought him to the even to get some socialization. Well, Meeko had a really good time. He met my good friend Cody, a big Husky/Malamute mix. He even looked at a cage of kittens very quietly.


After the event we went to Kelly's house for a while. I got to play with Cody, Meeko and my little buddy Gordy! Lori was using the Furminator on Gordy and it was amazing how much hair came off of the little guy! My mom took a video of it. You can see the video and the pictures from Saturday here.

Meeko had a great time. He was really happy and excited to be out all day instead of at the kennel. He was really friendly and well behaved with all of the people, kids an dogs that he met. One lady was really interested in him. My mom and dad said that they would keep taking him to rescue events until he finds his forever home. Well, I am still tired from yesterday, I am going to take a nap!
